There are several sources for finding airplane tickets that allow you to fly cheap. Use your internet connection to find cheap tickets, look for airfare consolidators, and/or contact a travel agent to find out what they can offer you with the computer systems and ticket access they possess. All of these sources for flight offer some kind of discount (maybe to a specified location) or price cut to allow anyone to fly cheap.
This website offers a variety of resources to finding cheap flights, look around and you can find a lot of great deals from suppliers we ourselves prefer.
You can also look at the well known sites, including Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline, etc., that offer the opportunity to fly cheap. Not only can you find the airplane tickets online, but you can also make hotel reservations, make rental car reservation, and pay for your entire trip sitting on your living room couch.
Flying cheap is also made possible through airfare consolidators. You can find hundreds of them by typing ?airfare consolidator? in a search engine. Airfare consolidators buy airline tickets to specified destinations (?hot spots?) several at a time, allowing them a bulk rate from the airlines. They turn around and offer these tickets to customers below the average price for the ticket if they were to buy it elsewhere. Ultimately, you can save money by purchasing through them as long as you watch for commission charges. Sometimes, they will quote you prices just for the tickets, so make sure you ask about any additional charges.
Travel agents allow people to not have to research flights. If you are looking to leave in a hurry or if you do not have time to search for the best rate, you may want to talk to a travel agent. Travel agents get tickets directly through the airline companies in the same manor as consolidators and they also charge a commission fee for their part in the flight arranging. Sometimes that can offer you better deals, because an airline will allow a specific travel agency to offer a discounted ticket for a specified location. Usually you will be able to fly cheap to places like Florida or Hawaii during their peak season. Travel agents usually charge a higher commission rate, due to the number of paychecks that have to be covered.
You should be able to fly cheap to any destination if you find its peak season, however, some place are cheaper during there off season. You will have to do a little research to find out when is the cheapest to fly. For example, in June or July, I see advertisements for flying cheap to Florida, around $100. However, if you look at January and February, you will that tickets run anywhere from $175 to around $350 depending on the airline, seats, and availability. The reason for this is that in June or July most of the tourists are going to major attractions making them the peak season, but the heat is very high. In January or February, everyone in the northern part of the US goes there to escape the cold. So, even though the peak season is the summer months, airlines know that people are willing to pay more for the tickets when they are to escape the cold versus just another vacation.
Another way to fly cheap is to book well in advance. Most airlines state that you can obtain the cheapest tickets on a particular flight if you schedule the flight thirty days in advance. In reality, you usually can still purchases the same priced tickets fourteen days before flight. However, once you get inside that two weeks mark, you will pay a much higher price.
Luxury seating is nice, but not cost efficient. Everyone wants to fly in first class, because it is nice. But if you are going on vacation and you are paying for it, it typically does not allow you to fly cheap. I have flown to many destinations first class and it is not as impressive as I thought it would be. Your seats are a little more comfortable and the staff is around more, but it is not a necessity. If the company you work for is paying for the tickets, great let them pay. But, I would just as soon pay less for my tickets and fly regular class, then to pay an extra dollar to have a stewardess at my beck and call.
All of the sources above are easily accessible by everyone and help allow you to fly cheap. Even if you don?t have a computer, your local library offer internet access and I am sure someone there would be willing to show you how to use it. Make sure you check as many sources as you can, because you would not believe the amount of money you can save on one trip, just by shopping.
